How to Look After Your Leather Goods

GOOD TO KNOW:

Leather Facts

  1. Leather Wallets can take up to the first week of use for the leather to mould around and fit all your cards, (as our leather pieces are made to fit and designed quite compact)
  2. Leather gets softer and stretches out like skin the older it gets
  3. Ombro Leather Goods are durable and our leather only get better with use
  4. Natural Brown Tanning changes slightly in colour from daily use, leather gets natural marks which come and go over the years, Remember leather is skin
  5. Cow Leather is the second strongest leather (crocodile is the strongest), always ask what type of leather your buying
  6. Cow is the best due to its strength and longevity, (as sheep and goat leather is not as strong and it is cheaper)

HOW TO CARE:

Ombro Leather uses Natural Beeswax to polish and protect leather

  1. Beeswaxing your leather wallet, belt or bag every year will pro-long the lifetime of the leather
  2. Beeswax gives moisture back into the leather goods
  3. If zips ever get tough; BEESWAX is the answer, (put a little bit of beeswax on the zip and use the zip with the beeswax in it and it will smooth out the zip; Zips get tough when they are dry, beeswax gives it moisture to run smooth again)
  4. A little beeswax goes a long way
  5. Ombro uses duzz-allBeeswax.co.nz

Personal use

You use your wallet every single day, it gets a lot of use, therefore we recommend

  1. Only one card slot per card slot is recommended for longer lasting, otherwise over the years you will over stretch out the leather and then maybe cards could fall out, so to keep its proper shape, use the wallet properly (as to how it has been designed). Also, doubling up cards, damages your credit cards.
  2. Try not to carry to many Australian 50c coins in your wallet, the sharp silver edges could tear into the leather from when people sit on their wallets.. (Is it worth ruining a $50 wallet over 50c coins?) Gold coins are ok as they are smaller not as heavy and smoother edges

IMPORTANT LEATHER CARE

  1. DO NOT WET LEATHER IT WILL RESHAPE ITS SIZE
  2. DO NOT ALLOW LEATHER TO SIT IN THE SUN FOR TOO LONG, SOMETIMES THIS WILL RESHAPE ITS SIZE AND FADE THE TANNING COLOUR

PLEASE NOTE:

Ombro can 100% guarantee that none of our cows are killed for leather, leather is a by-product, leather is ´´using all the animal´´after the meat industries process. Instead of the meat industries just throwing away the skin to waste, we hope to use all the animal. The meat industry will always be in our society therefore we use leather to have longer lasting products and try to not become over consumers. Longer lasting leather is better than plastic and other mass produced fabrics (i.e polyester and nylon), which are not good for the enviroment. Ombro only uses Genuine Cow Leather, for its strength and longevity, as cow is the second strongest of Leathers (crocodile being the strongest). We do not use Goat or Sheep Leather, this can be softer and cheaper but is not as strong as Cow.
